Joy is a seasoned and versatile Canadian artist. Her subject matter and use of different mediums challenge her creative abilities, and keep her patrons on the edge. She has worked with glass, sculpture, watercolour, inks, pastel, acrylics, oils , pencils and pens and encaustics.
It is dangerous to pigeonhole her style as her next painting could embrace a different quality altogether. It is safe to say , however, the use of vibrant colour in much of her work, gives it an exuberance that causes the viewer to appreciate the artistic interpretation with a deeper level of enjoyment.
Joy has painted all her life, and her workshop schooling has been extensive. Her work has been exhibited in both solo and group exhibitions in B.C., Ontario, New Brunswick and San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Work is in private collections across Canada, USA, Mexico and abroad. As well, she has given workshops in West Vancouver, Mexico, and Pender Island, B.C.
Joy and her family moved to B.C. in 1967 and she has been living and working on Pender Island since 1979.
